Animation for 'Ella' in the works

So I have been working hard on another animation, this time for a fantastic band over in sunny California by the name of Artemis. I had the privilege of getting a listen to the songs in the works towards their EP for release in Feb 2010 and picked my fav. Of course it had to be the longest song giving myself a load of work to do, but it will be worth it in the end!

The video will be a mixture of animation and film and I'm having a great time sending off my ideas and seeing footage come back with what I asked for, especially when I need something funny like a fall that needs to look accidental and watching the takes over and over...(hehe). The animation is a learning experience for me,trying yet again new techniques and getting ever more perfectionist in the process. Mostly hand drawn with charcoal using a mixture of 3 or 4 images flickering, and also rotoscoping. This is the first time doing this and it takes an enormous amount of time to do but looks fantastic!

In the video section you can see the promo ad I made for the EP called 'Auralei' with clips of some of the animation. I really wanted to share so far some of my rotoscoping and to give you an idea, that eagle landing shot at the end took over two days to make for only 6 seconds so hoping its appreciated!

Not long till deadline is up and will be sticking the final video all over when done so please keep an eye out!

Entry for the 'Blank Page' project publication.

"The Blank Page project forms part of the second year Contextual and Critical Studies program at Gray's School of Art, where academic writing is part of the normal curriculum for art and design students. The project aims to challenge writing further and broaden it's potential as an experience and practice within a contemporary art and design degree."

Here is my outcome which was printed in the publication, july 2009. My chosen outcome for part of the creative writing process was poetry.

The Intruder

I see you, I see you
I... SEE... YOU!

You snuck inside and picked your corner
You hid in pockets of shadows and dust
But intentions thrust and I'm no fool

I see you!

So now confronted, we stand alone
Who will be the first to move?
Your monstrous power has me overcome
Your alien nature, your random groove,
My blood, hot acid pumps lightening veins
And deafening silence, screams "RUN" in my ears
Slug like feet stuck to the ground
My legs older than their years
You've been found, time is due,

I feel you!

Your appalling intrusion has sparked fury and need
This nightmare must end, your shadow un-cast
Your black wired stature reminds me your fast
My morality forefront, you desire my bleed
Your need, my need, "I'll get you"
You say, I say

"I'll get you"

Like a cat on the hunt, I move slow, I move low
My eyes wide, I don't breathe. I will beat you, you know!
You disgust me with fright, how dare you come here,
Will you run? will you jump? or will you just stand and sneer?
My one ton limbs of syrup and slime
Slide slow, slide back as I reach for the glass
Your prison awaits you, admit your defeat
As I slam solid barrier around delicate feet.

YOUR BEAT!

My glory, my triumph, I gloat from afar,
Just incase the beast can sneak under the jar
I see you, your beauty, your tickle I feel,
I pity your scream, "let me out, break the seal"
But I got you surrounded, once so big, now so small,
I beat you arachnid, pack your webs, hit the hall.
